Introduction

Aosu Life Pte Ltd and its affiliates ("Aosu," "we," "us," or "our"), along with its Aosu-branded products and related services including cameras, doorbells, and mobile applications ("App"), respects your privacy concerns. Before using our products and/or services, it is important that you carefully read and understand this Privacy Notice and agree to its content. If you choose to use our products and/or services, you are deemed to have accepted this Privacy Notice. You have the right to refuse this Privacy Notice, but if you do so, we will not be able to provide you with our products and/or services.

This Privacy Notice describes the types of personal information we obtain about consumers and relevant individuals, how we may collect and use the personal information and with whom we may share it, the choices available regarding our collection and use of the personal information, and the measures we take to safeguard the personal information.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information that you provide directly to us when using our products and services.

1.1 Registration, Login, and App Usage

We collect the following information to facilitate your account management and ensure you receive timely service updates.

  • Contact and Account Information: name, email address, online password, and country/region.
  • Subscription and Payment Information: name, subscription, billing address and payment card details (collected and stored by our third-party payment processor on our behalf). Aosu stores only the last four digits of your payment card and the expiration date.
  • User-Submitted Content: information you submit through “Contact Us” features or customer support tools.

1.2 Basic Product Functions

To facilitate core monitoring features and ensure seamless connectivity between your hardware and the App, we collect the following information:

  • Device and Product Information: name/description, and installation location of your device; your Wi-Fi network information; and your device's model, serial number, MAC address, and software version.
  • Video and Audio Content: including identifiable natural persons' facial features, clothing, posture, movements, vocal characteristics (voiceprints), dialogue content, and specific scene information (e.g., house surroundings).
  • Camera device location information determined via Wi-Fi / IP.

Please note that the types of personal information collected for basic product functions may vary by product model.

In addition, a thumbnail image is generated from each video recording and displayed as “event preview”. Thumbnail images are processed through Aosu’s cloud infrastructure solely for the purposes of push notifications and event display. Neither third parties nor our internal staff will have access to event previews.

Except for the thumbnail images generated for event previews, we DO NOT upload or sync the above data to the App, servers, or the cloud. Such data is stored on your device by default.

1.3 Value-Added Services

This is the core of our services. To provide you with smart camera functionalities, we obtain:

  • Video and audio recordings, including live video or audio streams, and images captured by your device.
  • Data our products collect from their environment (e.g., motion, temperature, ambient light) to perform their functions.
  • Sensory and biometric data, including facial data, gait and voiceprints for identity recognition–related functions.
  • Geolocation for automatic on/off feature based on sunrise and sunset times.

Please be aware that when you enable the smart camera functionalities, your data will be processed through Aosu’s cloud infrastructure. Such value-added services are disabled by default and will be activated only after you voluntarily choose to enable them.

2. How We Use The Information We Collect

The personal information we collect may be used for the following purposes:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain our products and services.
  • Establish and manage your Aosu account.
  • Process orders and payments.
  • Personalize your experience.
  • Allow you to stream, save, and share content.
  • Increase and maintain the safety and security of our products and prevent misuse.
  • Communicate with you and provide customer support.
  • Perform analytics to improve our business.
  • Protect against fraud and other criminal activity.
  • Comply with legal obligations.

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We do not "share" your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as defined under the CCPA/CPRA. We may share your information with:

  • Service Providers: Companies that provide services on our behalf (e.g., cloud storage, payment processing, analytics, customer support). These providers are bound by strict data processing agreements.
  • Business Partners: With whom we jointly offer products or services, or for payment processing.
  • Legal Authorities: When required by law or legal process, or to protect your rights, safety, or property.
  • Business Transferees: In connection with a merger, sale, or other transfer of all or part of our business.

International Data Transfers

Your personal information may be transferred to and processed in countries outside your country of residence, including Singapore, the Philippines, Germany and the United States. We ensure all such transfers are governed by appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) and UK International Data Transfer Addendum, to provide a lawful basis for the transfer and ensure your data is protected.

4. Your Rights and Choices

You have certain choices regarding your personal information:

  • Marketing Communications: You can opt-out of promotional emails by following the unsubscribe instructions. You cannot opt-out of service-related communications.
  • Account Settings: You can access, correct, or delete certain information through your Aosu account settings.
  • Recording Subscriptions: If you subscribe to aosuProtect+, you can access and request to delete your recordings at any time during your subscription period.

Your Data Protection Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Access and receive a copy of your personal information.
  • Correct inaccurate information.
  • Delete your personal information.
  • Restrict or object to our processing of your personal information.
  • Data portability.
  • Withdraw consent (where processing is based on consent).

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at privacy@aosulife.com. We will respond to your request within the timeframe required by applicable law and may need to verify your identity first.

5. How We Protect Personal Information

We maintain administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information against accidental, unlawful, or unauthorized destruction, loss, alteration, access, disclosure, or use. These measures include:

  • Encryption of video data in transit and at rest.
  • Strict access controls and authentication procedures.
  • Regular security monitoring and assessments.

6. Data Retention

We retain your personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Notice, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law.

  • Account Information: Retained for the duration of your account lifecycle.
  • Video Recordings (aosuProtect+ Subscribers): Retained for the duration of your subscription and accessible by you. You can delete them at any time. Additionally, recordings for which you enabled cloud storage feature are automatically overwritten on a rolling basis (typically up to 30 days, depending on your subscription plan).
  • Biometric Data: Retained for the duration of your subscription and accessible by you.

In any event, such data is retained only for the duration that the relevant feature is enabled and your account remains active, and will be deleted upon feature disablement or account closure.

7. Minors’ Data

Our products and App services are intended for adults with full legal capacity and not designed for or provided to minors (especially children aged 14 and under). Should different age standards exist in the user's country of residence, those local standards shall prevail. We do not proactively collect or process any personal information or behavioral data known to belong to minors. We recommend that parents or legal guardians monitor minors' device usage and, if necessary, assist them in removing the relevant applications or disabling device features.

8. Updates To Privacy Notice

This Privacy Notice may be updated periodically to reflect changes in our practices. We will post a notice on our website and/or in our App and may notify you via email of significant changes. We will indicate the date of the most recent update at the top of this Privacy Notice.

This California Consumer Privacy Disclosure Page ("California Disclosure") supplements the Privacy Notice and applies solely to California residents. This California Disclosure is provided in accordance with the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 ("CCPA"), as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act ("CPRA"), and any terms defined in the CCPA/CPRA have the same meaning when used in this California Disclosure.

  • Opt-out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. As stated, we do NOT sell or share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
  • Limit the Use of Sensitive Personal Information: We only use sensitive personal information (like biometric data) to provide the service you requested, for security, and other exempt purposes. Therefore, we do not offer a limit use right for this data as it is not used for inferring characteristics.
  • Non-Discrimination: You will not be discriminated against for exercising your rights.

This EEA/UK Privacy Disclosure (“EEA/UK Disclosure”) supplements the Privacy Notice and applies solely to individuals located in the EEA and the UK. This EEA/UK Disclosure is provided in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2016/679) (“EU GDPR”) and the UK General Data Protection Regulation (“UK GDPR”), together with the UK Data Protection Act 2018. Any terms defined in the EU GDPR or UK GDPR have the same meaning when used in this EEA/UK Disclosure.

We process your personal information based on the following legal bases under EU GDPR/UK GDPR:
